It's a particularly sad time right now in my family and I've decided to share a story about my husband....it's one of my favorite funny stories of him....I hope this helps a few people laugh.
Although my husband and I like to pretend like we are physically active, we really just go in waves of exercise. It usually involves the discovery of something new like a workout website or a new toy..... like a new bike. When we were living in DC, my husband got me a bike for my birthday and we took that bad boy for a spin. Brad had a bike that he rode about 3 times a year so he was an expert in urban bike riding. He proceeded to explain to me how to tighten your pant leg so it wouldn't get caught in the gear and chains...this was very important to him... that I understand how not to get caught up.
We were about 2 miles from home and biking up this huge hill. Brad was several yards ahead of me. I had my head down and I'm working my way up......when all of a sudden I heard "Damnit...#$%*, #$%*, I can't believe this, #$%*" and there Brad was with his pant leg caught in the chain and ripped up to the knee. He yanked it loose and cursed and cursed while he rolled it up to his knee. I was just below him on hill, hysterically laughing, which made Brad even more livid.
It gets better. Once Brad recovered from the accident, he was very determined to just get home already. He started heading back up the hill and - no exaggeration- 10 yards up the hill, I heard "you've got to be kidding me, what the #$%*, unbelievable" and on and on. His jeans had come unrolled and got caught a second time. Better still, the leg continued to rip.....up to the top of the jeans. So he went from looking like a pirate......to looking like a half naked pirate. I had to get off my bike- not to help Brad- but to keep from falling off because I was laughing so hard.
I can't imagine what we looked like to someone driving by in rush hour traffic-- a furiously angry biker with one pant leg just flapping around while his skinny bare leg pumped that bike home and a woman following closely behind crying with laughter. Best workout ever!
